Scott Pfeifer and Cheryl Bernard were named the alternates for Team Canada at the Olympics in Pyeongchang. Pfeifer, a four-time world champion, was no surprise as he has been the alternate for Team Koe for a few seasons. The selection of Bernard, a 2010 Olympic silver medallist, was a bit more of a surprise as she retired from competitive curling three years ago and had never served as alternate for Team Homan in the past. In a message posted on social media, Team Homan explained that Cheryl Kreviazuk, who had served as the alternate for Team Homan at last season’s Scotties, the World Championships and the Olympic Trials did not meet the Olympic selection criteria which is why the team approached Bernard.

Cheryl Bernard joined us to discuss being selected by Team Homan and what she hopes to bring to the team.
